Like a growing number of jobs, pizza delivery has finally been replaced by our chip-powered brethren.

Watch Domino's Deliver Pizza With An Actual Robot

Domino’s is about to start trialing pizza delivery robots in New Zealand, driving fear into the hearts of fast-food workers everywhere.

The droid is called DRU, which is short for the Domino’s Robotic Unit, and can hold up to 10 pizzas at once.

DRU stands at three foot tall, and drives on four wheels, boasting a range of 20-kilometres before requiring recharge.

When the DRU turns up at your house, you’ll have to enter a code given to you when you ordered to unlock the pizza compartment.

As you can see in the video, DRU can operate autonomously thanks to an array of built-in sensors that help it avoid obstacles.

“DRU has a passion for delivering piping hot meals and a nice warm smile to customers,” writes Domino’s.

“While he won’t be taking to the streets tomorrow, he is enjoying his early progress as a prototype and giving customers a glimpse into the future of what is possible,” it continues.
