As reported by Germany's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), in February this year the producer prices of industrial products in Germany fell by 0.1 percent compared to January this year and were up 1.2 percent compared to February 2012, while year-on-year increase rates of 1.7 percent and 1.5 percent had been recorded in December 2012 and January this year respectively.

Energy was 1.7 percent more expensive in February this year than in February 2012. Excluding energy, producer prices of industrial products in Germany increased by one percent in February of the current year compared to February 2012 and rose by 0.1 percent compared to January.

German producers' prices for basic metals in February this year, however, were lower by 2.4 percent year on year and were up 0.2 percent over January this year. In February, German producers' rolled steel prices fell by 3.2 percent compared to the same month of 2012, continuing the downward movement on year-on-year basis seen since the beginning of last year. Meanwhile, in February rebar prices in Germany were 11.2 percent cheaper on year-on-year basis, while rebar prices fell by 4.1 percent compared to January.
